Positano - My Travel Guide

Getting There:

We took a flight from Charlotte, NC (where we live) to Rome, and then from Rome to Naples. We then had our hotel book a driver to come get us from the Naples airport and drive the hour of windy, narrow streets to our hotel.

If this is your first time in Positano, let me assure you: you do NOT want to rent a car and drive yourself. The roads are narrower than a bike lane and fit two-way traffic, and they twist and turn along the edge of the coast, making you feel like you’re going to go over! I’d highly recommend having an expert cab company or your hotel transportation come get you!

Book your flights as early as possible for International trips like the one from CLT to Rome! Get an American Airlines card or a Chase Sapphire card and start earning points to convert into first class or business class seats if possible!

Where We Stayed:

We booked a gorgeous premium room at Buca Di Bacco, which we highly recommend! It is PERFECTLY located…tucked in between all of the shops, directly on the beach, and next to most of the highly sought-after restaurants and bars. The hotel has a complimentary breakfast buffet that we LOVED and would enjoy on the balcony overlooking the breathtaking views. The hotel staff are also extremely helpful—they booked our day trips, transports, and dinner reservations for us.

Things To Do:

There a ton of cute street shops to walk into during the day, and the beach to relax at as well! We decided to spend our time doing a trip to Capri one day, and a trip to Ravello the next. We then spent our nights back in Positano trying out the many amazing restaurants!

Where To Eat:

Drinks:

Franco’s Bar at Le Sireneuse - It is one of the nicest hotels you’ll ever see and its new bar is the perfect spot to enjoy craft cocktails and complimentary snacks before dinner. It’s definitely pricy, but worth it for the view and atmosphere. We went here all three nights!

Lunch:

Casa E Bottega - Adorable little lunch/juice spot with some healthier options when you’re trying to find a balance between the carb-load full of pastas/pizzas and also fit into your cute honeymoon clothes

Dinner:

Next2 - We had a fresh fish and gnocchi that was light but delicious…the drinks were also amazing! Highly recommend…try to get a table outside!

Il Capitano - Delicious pizzas and pastas with one of the most gorgeous views you can get

La Tagliata - One of the most sought after restaurants….Make a reservation here!!! You get picked up from your hotel by a shuttle and taken about 15-20 minutes up to what can only be described as Italian paradise. There is no menu; just what Mama takes fresh from the garden and prepared family-style that day…many courses and bottles of wine later, you will be STUFFED! It only costs 40 Euros, which is incredible given the amount of food you’ll be eating. Come hungry!

Ristorante Max - Right in the center of the city and amazing pizzas…this is where they have the heart-shaped pies that you see all over Insta!
